Property Info

The Red Cedar Lodge at Heaton Ranch is located in Dairy Canyon off of Stout Canyon. The area has been owned by the Heaton family since the 1940's. When traveling to the Red Cedar Lodge you will pass through the Old Ranch. This property is about 120 years old and has been the backdrop for family gatherings and events through the generations.

We are pleased to share this land with you and hope you will experience the special spirit that can be felt here.

Building on The Red Cedar Lodge began in 1996 and is continually improved  upon. Grandma Alma Heaton dreamed of a place that her family could gather and this is a realization of her vision.

When renting you have full use of the Red Cedar Lodge, Lady Bug cabin, and pond. There is also a large grassy area that can fit several tents.

***Please remember that this area is bordered by private property on all sides. Be considerate of others. Please leave all gates as you found them (open gates remain open, closed gates are again closed after passing through).

Red Cedar Lodge:
This cabin features seven bedrooms and four bathrooms. It has a loft, an open family room, dining area, and large kitchen. Three of the bedrooms have deck access. There are 7 queen beds, 1 set bunk beds, 1 king, and 2 toddler beds. Two of the rooms have couches.

Lady Bug Cabin:
This cabin has a small kitchen and dining area. There is one bathroom and two bedrooms. There are 2 queen beds and 1 set of bunk beds.

Bedding:
While each bed has bedding or coverlets, we ask you bring all your own bedding. Sleeping bags or sheets and blankets, as well as pillows and pillowcases will be needed. Remember it can get cold at night, especially in the spring and fall. Please bring your own washcloths and towels.

Kitchen:
The kitchen has two propane refrigerators. Please cool food to room temp before placing in the fridges. The kitchen has two commercial ovens (6 stove top burners and a flat griddle). The cupboards have been stocked with a variety of pots, pans, bowls, and utensils.

Modern Amenities?
We strive to find a good mix of comfortable and rustic in the mountains. While you do have hot water, a few showers will run it out. While you do have electricity for lights, appliances like hair dryers or curling irons (anything that heats or requires a lot of electricity) will leave you in the dark. Limit the use of lights when not in use. Cell service is spotty and in most cases you will need to take a drive towards the highway to make calls. Appliances are propane. You may need to light pilot lights on stoves. Please cool food to room temperature before placing in the refrigerators. If the carpets need to be vacuumed please use the generator to power the cabin (instructions are in the Info Binder at the ranch). If you find anything out of order please let us know.

We provide:
Hand soap, cleaners, and bathroom tissue is provided. Trash bags can be found in the kitchen.  Please bring your own eating utensils, paper goods (plates, bowls, cups, napkins and paper towels). Please refer to the section What to Bring for more information.

Pond:
The pond is deep and cold. Please bring life jackets, bug spray, and sunscreen. Adult supervision is required.

Legacy:
We hope you will take a few minutes to log your visit in our journal, found in the Lodge with the Info Binder. Enjoy your stay!
